Concept2 Model E Indoor Rowing Machine Review (MP4 Monitor, Best Price)
Check out Concept2 Model E Indoor Rowing Machine honest review.
The Concept2 Model E Indoor Rowing Machine is the newest rower that was introduced on the market by the same company that launched the much similar Concept2 Model D Indoor Rowing Machine. There is only one major difference between the two models, Concept2 Model E Indoor Rowing Machine is placed bit higher from the floor and instead of the old PM3 it features new PM4 computer monitor, meaning it shows operators’ heart rate, along with other features.
Much like other Concept 2 rowers,Concept2 Model E Indoor Rowing Machine’s rowing motion feels natural and steady while successfully imitating a sense of water rowing.
Its flywheel, which is essential for steady rowing motions, comes in a design that effectively minimizes the noise when the machine is in action. However, its fines feature comes with its spiral damper which allows the operator to control each pull separately. Therefore, the operator is in full control of both resistance and exertion. The way this is achieved is with the help of the spiral damper which lets the operator to easily alter the airflow that goes into the flywheel.
Same as the model D, this model features an ergonomically made handle that feels really natural when used and allows the operator to place the arm in a natural position, position that will eliminate any risk of straining or feel of tiredness on operator’s arms, hands as well as forearms.
However, the seat presented on the Model E is much different than the one found on the Model D. It profile is 20’’, while Model D features a profile of 16”, meaning the operator on Model E sits on a much higher position above the floor than with the Model D.
Many people who are unsecure which profile suits them most need to keep in consideration that the Model E is the better option in terms of if they are having some problems with either mobility or balance. For an example, if the operator has a problem bending his knees. On the other hand, many people option to go with the Model E just because they like sitting higher off the floor.
At the end, its footrests are excellent in keeping the operator’s feet tightly in place. Also, they can be adjusted so that anyone can feel comfortable, whatever the foot size.
As it was already stated the performance monitor is the most important deference between the two models. While the Model D features the PM3, the Model E comes with the PM4. Each of the monitors automatically turns off and on during work and if there isn’t any activity for few minutes. Also, both monitors come with 3” x 3” 160 x 160 resolution screen which features great number of display options. Plus, it can give instant and exact feedback on pace, distances, speed, watts and more.
PM4 also has an increased 2MB memory, while the PM3 memory is only 1MB, is able to give full support to wireless racing among multiple machines (no more than 8 machines) without any additional computers or machines needed. Not only all that, but it is possible to include wireless heart rate monitoring, mainly because Garmin chest belt is included. Also, with all already said it needs to be mentioned that PM4 comes with a rechargeable battery pack which can be recharged while the user rows, two additional games (Target training and Darts) plus the ability to add future expansion as well as few other features.
The Concept2 Model E Indoor Rowing Machine has a quick release frame lock mechanism which is pretty convenient in terms of creating storage space. Also, the inclusion of the caster wheels located at the front of the rower largely contributes to that.
Each Concept2 Model E Indoor Rowing Machine comes with 2 years parts warranty and 5 years frame warranty.
Based on our experience with the Concept 2 Rower we expect the Model E to earn the same admiration and high rating as well.
Users throughout the years said a lot of great things about it. Some of them admired its construction quality while others its durability considering that some of them said that they used the machine for more than 5 years in which period never had any problem with it. Also, almost everyone agreed that rower’s almost noiseless operation, its high seat, its PM4 monitor, all that contributed largely to their admiration and respect for this machine.
The only user complaint about the Model D was that they needed to spend extra money on buying the heart rate monitor. That issue was resolved with the Concept 2 Model E as it comes with its own heart rate monitor.
On the other hand, if we were someone choosy we would say that there are way too many plastic part on the machine; plastic extension arm to hold the monitor, plastic wheels, plastic handlebars. But, realistically there aren’t too many chances that sturdy plastic to be easily damaged or broken and at the end of the day it’s not such a big deal.
